Service Groups

Church World Service CROPWalk is supported yearly through monetary donations as well as walkers who participate in the Porter County walk for hunger needs each fall. Adults, youth and families are encouraged to take part. CROPWalk support is sponsored by our Social Ministry and Missions Committee.

Lutheran World Relief Quilters

Quilters and apprentice-quilters from several congregations gather regularly on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. for sewing in the Church Hall. At 11:00 a.m. the Quilters take a short “break” for prayer and devotions. Many bring a sack lunch and work into the afternoon. In addition to CLC quilters, several come from Immanuel (LCMS) in Valparaiso.

LWR Layettes

Congregation volunteers work on making and assembling layettes for Lutheran World Relief. Throughout the year items are collected, made or bought to enable this group to make as many layettes as possible.

Meals Ministry

Many gracious volunteers prepare and deliver meals as needed to those recovering from illness, surgery or the birth of a child. When called upon, our Funeral Ministry volunteers direct and serve funeral luncheons on behalf of bereaved families.

Men’s Shelter Coalition

Christ Lutheran has served as a host site for the Men’s Homeless Coalition over the summer months. Volunteers help staff the shelter site from April 15th to October 15th. During the winter months, Christ Lutheran members have been involved in providing meals at other host sites. The Men’s Homeless Coalition has a relationship with the New Creation Men’s Shelter in Valparaiso.

The Mail Crew

Consists of volunteers that collate The Good News (our monthly newsletter) and other mailings from the church. The Mail Crew meets on a Tuesday morning (usually the last Tuesday of the month) at 9:00 a.m. in the CLC Conference Room to collate the newsletter.
