An update from our pastors, 3/16/2020

Dear CLC community –

With the national government’s increasing restrictions on the size of gatherings, CLC is moved into Stage Three of our Health Plan ( in response to the COVID-19 virus.  Please note that this change has come because of the recommendations of state and national health authorities – there has NOT been a case in either the church or preschool.

While how we do things is changing rapidly in these days, we know that we are still the church, together.  Jesus has promised to be present; God’s love and Spirit call us to stay connected, even when we have to be keeping physical distance.

From today, 3/16/2020, until further notice:

In-person worship services will not be held Sundays or Wednesdays.

Worship will continue online – livestreamed at for both Lenten Wednesday evenings at 7pm and Sunday mornings at 9:00am, with recordings remaining available after the services. (A digital copy of the Service Order for each service will be linked in the description beneath each video.)

Please remember, even as we move online, that it is because of your faithful generosity that this church changes lives.  Receiving our Offerings is part of the worship we offer, whether on-line or in-person; and because our Offerings are what make our ministries of compassion, care, formation, worship, and witness possible, they are more needed than ever.  Please find a way to continue to contribute to the life of our community even when we are not passing offering plates! We can mail checks to the church office, our online giving portal can be found here, and Heather Budnik is always available to assist: heather.budnik(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)clcvalpo.orgNO church and community meetings will meet at this time (including music rehearsals, Bible Studies, Sunday School, Book Club, Scouts, etc.).

As staff and ministry leaders get a handle on these many changes, we hope to find creative ways to connect online for devotions, prayer support, etc.

Only Alcoholics Anonymous and the Men’s Overnight Shelter will continue to meet in our building; leaders are working with local partners to find the best practices for these crucial ministries.

Our local hospitals and nursing homes are closing to visitors; as our congregation’s ability to connect in-person will be limited, we’ll be thinking creatively about other ways to connect.  We love you and want to offer any care that we can – please call the church office at 464-6660 or email clcvalpo(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign) to let us know of your needs or those of others.

We hope to return to church life as usual as soon as it is safe to do so – please join in praying, and stay connected to CLC at and following Christ Lutheran Church on Facebook.

God’s peace,

Pastor Erica and Pastor Tim
